The Federal Idea already numbers over 200 members, hailing from a broad range of sectors of activity. They joined The Federal Idea enthusiastically and on an individual basis. Each one contributes, in his or her own way, to enriching the discussion on the evolution of federalism as a system of values, principles and division in complete freedom and independence.
Membership in The Federal Idea takes place on a voluntary and individual basis and the opinions of members reflect only those members’ views, the feeling of the network being that it is the experience and thinking of each one, as well as the diversity of points of view on federalism, that will enrich the group. Activities will be financed through donations from the group’s members and from its sympathizers.
With the goal of seeing to the start-up of the organization and to the launch of the group’s activities, The Federal Idea formed a Management Committee made up of the members listed on the right.
André Pratte, editorial page editor at the newspaper La Presse, agreed to serve as President and spokesman for The Federal Idea.
A Scientific Committee has also been formed. It is directed by Martin Coiteux and includes Jocelyn Coulon, Éric Montpetit, Jean Leclair, André Pratte, Rémi Léger, Maya Jegen, Patrick Leblond, Robert Bernier, Jean-Pierre Derriennic and Pierre-Gerlier Forest.
